If you are triggered by AI in coaching or if you still think AI can’t build a good training plan once it's been given all the required context, this probably won’t make any sense to you yet.
For everyone else, the interesting question isn’t whether AI can write sessions. It’s what coaching is worth once it can.
A competent plan is easy to get now.
What used to take an evening of writing can be drafted in a few prompts. ChatGPT, Claude, apps with built-in generators. Progressive sessions that look solid on paper are no longer scarce.
So if the plan is easy, what are athletes actually paying for?
Not the workouts. The judgment around them.
A plan can put threshold on Tuesday.
It can’t tell whether this athlete should do that after a brutal work week, a sick kid, or three nights of bad sleep.
That call still needs a coach who knows them.
Someone who hears “legs were fine” and knows that usually means they weren’t.
Someone trusted enough to say stop, or go, and be believed.
AI has made programming abundant.
It has made relationship and judgment more valuable, not less.
That’s the real shift
For a long time, part of the coach fee bought access to a “proper” plan. Periodized. Progressive. Written by someone who knew what they were doing.
AI has eroded that advantage.
Now the plan is closer to table stakes. The scarce thing is personal context, continuity, and advice athletes trust when life and training collide.
You’re not selling twelve weeks of sessions.
You’re selling good decisions in the messy middle.
You’re selling a conversation that gets sharper the longer you work together.
Most tools still act like the plan is the product
Plenty of software is great at pushing workouts and weak at supporting the work that earns the fee: advice, judgment, and human connection.
Notes here. Payments there. Check-ins in DMs. AI that feels like a platform guessing for you. Your brand thins out. Your time disappears into admin.
That’s the wrong direction.
Where Training Tilt fits
Training Tilt is built for coaches who want AI as leverage, not a replacement.
- Run your coaching under your brand
- Keep training, athletes, payments, and communication together
- Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your coaching data, with you approving what athletes actually see
Let AI draft the plan and tidy the busywork.
You keep the call.
Your athletes keep hearing your voice.
Your business still looks like yours.
The offer, said simply
If an athlete can get “a plan” from AI, make your value easy to say:
1. I know you over time, not just this week’s numbers.
2. I help you make good calls when life gets in the way.
3. I’m easy to reach where training already lives.
4. My AI works under my standards, not instead of them.
That’s the product.
Bottom line
AI didn’t kill coaching.
It killed the idea that the plan was the value.
Coaches who win will use AI to move faster, then spend the saved time on trust, continuity, and clear human guidance.
That's the direct I'm taking Training Tilt.
